2009 In a NUTSHELL

Zach and I are getting ready to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary in February. Time flies when you are having fun....RIGHT Zach.

2009 Has been a very interesting year in our lives. February 18, 2009 Zach and I celebrated our 4th anniversary, and my dad passed away that same day. What a way to kick things off. Thankfully we received the news after we had already celebrated. It will always put a new twist to my anniversary.

Zach is still attending SLCC and getting ready to transfer the U of U. We are anticipating his graduation very much, as most of you know that will send our family to Egypt for a few years. We are all very excited about that big change. The kids can't wait to see where Grandma and Papa go every time we take them to the airport. Zach has spent 3 months a year in Egypt working for the last 4 years.

I am still working at the U of U doing Birth Certificates. I don't love the fact that I am working, but if you have to work this is the job. The U recently remodeled the hospital. It is so beautiful and I actually have an office. I LOVE to be around the babies, and use my Spanish daily. I have made some life long friends and enjoy it.

Kohen is our BIG kid. He turned 3 in May and started preschool in September. He LOVES every minute of it. He is in a class with 3 of his cousins and is the youngest in his class. He has the pledge of Allegiance memorized and will do it on command. He is starting to recognize letters and can spell his name. He was diagnosed with Asthma this year and has only had to use his inhaler a handful of times. He is SO sweet and loves to be with family and friends. His sister is his best friend. He will be starting primary next Sunday. He is a GREAT kid and we love him to pieces.

Addison is our princess. She turned 2 in September and thinks she is 16. She LOVES to play dress ups and cook in her kitchen. She loves babies and wishes she had a real baby. Addi has endless amounts of energy and is very sweet. She occasionally will beat up Kohen. She defiantly can hold her own. She finally made it on the charts at the Dr. She weighs 25lbs...starting at 3lbs...that isn't bad. She loves to dance and watch Enchanted. She is very much a girly girl. She loves when I do her hair and brings smiles and laughs all day. We are so glad she is apart of our family.

Broc...our dog is getting old. He is a great dog to have around and is SO patient with our crazy kids. I love to have him around especially when Zach is in Egypt. He is low key and loves to go in the car. He loves when Papa and Grandma Betty come to visit...they give him the most attention.
We are so blessed with family that lives all around us. It definatly takes a village to raise your kids. We could never be doing this without our family.

I am sad to say that my NEON from high school finally died. We welcomed a new family member to the Gerrard Clan...a 2009 red HHR. It is a FUN car, and it is SO nice to have a radio that works ALL of the time.

Life overall has been good to us this year. Every year brings the good and the bad. Throws curve balls that are unexpected. My mom survived and deadly car accident on December 1, 2009. She is an amazing woman to me, she truly has angels with her at all times. Heavenly Father blesses us SO much.
I feel so blessed to have the 2 great kids that I have...they are healthy and normal. Their is just something about being told not do this again...Zach has been a ROCK to me through all of this. He is an amazing husband and dad. When he is playing with our kids, I often think how lucky they are to have him.

Hopefully 2010 will be a GREAT year to us ALL.
Happy New Year!

Goodbye Tyson...

Brock, TYSON, Braden and Argus
2 brothers and dog.
Last night my nephew Tyson got a call at 9:30pm with instructions to have his bags packed and his Recruiter would be to pick him up at 10:30.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I can't believe that I have a nephew old enough to be enrolled in the United States Air Force.

My sister called me in tears, telling me if I wanted to say goodbye to Tyson, I would have to meet him at his work. I grabbed my camera and drove as fast as I could. I saw Tyson walk out of the movie theaters with the BIGGEST SMILE! I am so prod of him, and I know that he will be AWESOME! Tyson and I have always had a brother-sister relationship more than aunt to nephew. I guess that is what you get when we are only 10 years apart.

He has been waiting for this day since graduation day from High School. Today, he is headed to Fort Worth Texas for Basic Training. We are hoping that he makes it home for Christmas. Either way...I don't think that he cares. He is SO excited. Tyson, we know that you will be awesome. My kids will miss you like crazy....Good Luck buddy....WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Back to Blogging!!!

It has been awhile since I have had a moment to sit and update this thing that we call our journal! Life is always CRAZY and BUSY...but we are having a GREAT time. Zach is getting through school one day at a time....doing a great job. I am really proud of him. I am still hanging out at the U of U with all of the cute babies...working! Kohen is LOVING every minute of pre school. He is doing really well. Addison is just being silly Addi and we LOVE her. I love having my one on one time with her while Kohen is at school. She misses him, but we find plenty of stuff to occupy our time. They have both been sick....poor babies. Kohen is finally over STREP. Addi has had the CROUP! Getting up every 2 hours the last couple of nights isn't what I call FUN! They are getting better.

Zach and I have had a fun month of lots of date nights. I LOVE it. He is my best friend and we seem to have lots of fun doing nothing! We are getting excited to start the Holiday Season. Fall is my favorite season. I LOVE driving around looking at the FUN decorations and the changing leaves. I LOVE the crisp air....the sweaters and boots too. Hopefully everyone is enjoying this time of year too!

No MORE Binki

The night of Addison's birthday (9-11) She was being a naughty girl. That is not unusual of our little princess. Zach told her that he was going to throw her binki away. She cried and cried. Kohen told her that daddy threw her binki away, so I thought lets do this....COLD TURKEY. She has done great. A little part of me is sad. She always looked so cute with them, and I loved the way that she would always say BINKI BINKI. She was getting a little obsessed with them. Once in awhile she will still ask for it with a devilsh little smile, and then say, "Binki in garbage" Our little Addi is really growing up!

FuN Post

Every year for Mother's day we get ALL the Gerrard grand kids together and get a picture for Grandma Gerrard. We usually wait until the summer so our niece Cassie can be here, she lives in Cali. Normally we pack all the kids and head to Kiddie Kandids. This year, we decided to have our talented aunt and sister in law take the pics. She did a GREAT job. It was a FUN adventure trying to get all of these kids to look at the camera. She also got some fun shots of our kids too. Thanks Kristen, they turned out great.

9 Days...People 9 Days!

Well the time is quickly approaching that Zach is coming home. We couldn't be more excited. Kohen asks me everyday if we are going to the airport to get daddy. I am so excited that when I think about it I get butterflies. This has been a long, short, bitter sweet summer. I feel like my kids grew up over night. Kohen is 100% potty trained, Addi is talking like crazy. She thinks she is such a big girl. I have felt at times that I was going to loose it...but WE MADE IT. I am excited to be a family and enjoy the rest of the summer. Zach we can't wait to see you in 9 short days!

***Oakley Rodeo***

Every year in the Brockman Family we head up to the Oakley Rodeo for the 4th of July. It has been a great tradition. Last night Kohen and I headed up with my family. It was SO fun and Kohen had a blast. He LOVED the cowboys and kept asking me if we could Cowboy again. You can't be at a Rodeo without a cowboy hat right? I found him and Addi the cuttest cowboy hats and they LOVE them. A big thanks to G-ma and G-pa Gerrard for keeping Addi over night for us.

Knotty Pine Resort 2009

Well...Kohen, Addi and myself had a BLAST of a weekend. G-pa & G-ma Gerrard invited us along with some cousins to go camping for the weekend and it was SOOO nice. They took the kids up Friday afternoon (I had the WHOLE night to myself) to Knotty Pine Resort near Heber. I met them on Saturday after work, and we all had such a GREAT time. The scenery was AMAZING the company was great, and most of all it was so relaxing. We had 4-wheelers, swimming, a park...fun walks, and the beautiful water....it was SO fun. Thank you John and Sherie for the invite. We love you!!!
